About the Event
What is a De-Stressor/De-Stresser you may ask?
A De-stressor is a stress relief event or activity in which aids in the reduction of stress and anxiety to help someone become relaxed.
In the case of students, they experience stresses from school, studies, exams, changes and even life challenges. In the case now, students are facing a lot of uncertainty with online learning and the circumstances of the pandemic.
It is essential that we help our kids to de-stress as often as possible to avoid them from becoming overwhelmed or using maladaptive ways of coping (breaking things, rumination, drugs, fighting, self-harm etc.
At Survival Scholars, our mission is to help students cope in a healthy, positive and productive manner so that they can not only thrive through trials, but they can also be successful amidst adversity.
This is why we are having regular de-stressor activities for students to have access to so that they can explore more creative ways for their self-expression. With our multisensory strategy of using Mindfulness, Music, Art, Activities, Poetry and Puppetry (MAP), we are helping students to MAP their talents to facilitate their creative self-expression to cope effectively.
In this time of "New Normal", we want a new normal of children having de-stressors often. Let us normalize the need for children to de-stress as often as possible.
